Spherical Radomes
- Description of the technology(ies) involved:
LRDE has experience in realization of flat Radome) without joints for most of our ground based radars. Air-supported Radome of diameter 25m for an L-Band Radar is presently being utilized. However, they are required to be pressurized 24X7 to maintain the spherical shape. It is planned to establish the design and development technology for spherical solid Radome of diameter more than 22m diameter in the country. The design shall involve EM and structural design of the radome with multiple panels, optimization of the joints, and selection of materials and testing of panels (EM, structural and environmental). The Radome panels shall be designed for various frequency bands. (S, X and Ka band). Radomes involve multiple discipline, viz. EM, structural and composites. Potential of Indian Industries in the field of composites will be tapped in to meet the requirements.
