Shared Aperture Phased Array Antenna
- Description of the technology(ies) involved:
Current radars systems are utilizing multiple antenna systems to cater towards radar, IFF, communication, EW, etc. functionalities. The futuristic requirements need significant reduction size, volume, weight and cost. To meet these requirements of future generations of Active phased array radar shared aperture AAAU architecture is required which performs multi-functionalities from the common aperture. So, design, development & realization of shared aperture phased array antenna is proposed with the aim to establish weight and volume optimized shared aperture AAAU for future Active Phased Array Radar systems.
Shared Aperture being a comparatively new technology associated with critical challenges in the area of design, development, integration, performance evaluation etc., it is planned to prove the concept initially by developing proto Shared Aperture Antenna unit to study/mitigate the above risks/challenges. After establishing this technology, same will be utilized in future combat systems with improved performance.
