LTCC based Antenna Arrays and Filters (Passives)

Tile structured Arrays have advantage of high integration and miniaturization compared to conventional arrays. But the challenge faced in the Tiled structure is the removal of heat from the Power devices in a multi-channel T/R module array, since conventional methods of heat dissipation are not possible in Tile Arrays. To circumvent the problem of Cooling in a Tile array, LTCC (Low Temperature Co-fired Ceramics) substrates integrated with Liquid Cooling Micro channels can be adopted. The development of the Array involves the design & optimization of LTCC Substrate with the integrated Cooling Channels followed by the assembly, fabrication, testing and evaluation.

LTCC Array with integrated Liquid Cooling Micro Channels design is a new technology with critical challenges to design and hence it is planned to prove the concept initially by developing experimental 8 x 8 Array unit to study/mitigate the above risks/challenges. Once LTCC Array with integrated Liquid Cooling Micro Channels technology is established, the knowhow can be utilized in future Tile based active Phased Array Radar systems with improved performance.
